OK, I've made very little progress this month. But the quilt that I've added to position 12 will get finished. It's a challenge quilt that must be turned in before the end of December. And since I really do have all those wall hangings I made this year that don't show on the list I think it's fair to say that this resolution is in the bag. Now to start planning my strategy for next year's resolution...
If you could only drink one beverage for the rest of your life (not including water), which one would you choose?
Wine. I like wine. But I'd sure miss beer and Diet Coke an awful lot.
If you could be any age again for one week, what age would you be?
As far as me in general is concerned I'm rather fond of the age I am now. Can't see any point in reliving any past age. Life just keeps getting better as times goes on. But if I could simply regain an earlier stage of my body with everything else remaining in the present, well, I'd like to have my 25 year old body for a bit. Dang, I miss it!
Today is "Evaluate Your Life Day." So, tell us: how do you think you're life's going so far?
Swimmingly. Though winning the lottery would be a nice touch.
Last week my sister, Marcia, and I drove down to Houston to attend the International Quilt Festival. We've been to Market several times, but this was our first trip to the festival. How lovely it was to go and simply have fun instead of spending every waking minute trying to figure out what to purchase for the shop. If you wish to find out about what we saw and did at the show I'll be posting that stuff here.
We arrived in Houston on Wednesday and stayed with John the entire time we were there. Our original plan had been to spend all of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday attending the show, but we ended up spending most of the day Friday with John.
Our day with John started off by going downtown to visit one of his favorite stores (and now one of ours) Spec's. We could easily have stayed there for the entire day shopping, but after picking out a few goodies we moved on.
The next stop along our route was the Johnson Space Center. I spent two weeks there back in 1984, but some things have changed since then. They have a flashy new visitor center with lots of interactive exhibits, a food court, and the obligatory gift shop. You can also take a tram ride around the campus which stops off at a couple of buildings including a visit to the old mission control. The Saturn V rocket has been refurbished and is now located inside of a building. You can also get right up next to it which you couldn't do the last time I was there.
The view along the seawall was mostly unobstructed by tourist traps.
If John were more cooperative this wouldn't be such a crappy picture. He has no one to blame for it but himself.
Is it just me, or can anyone else see the face in this picture? It's just left of center. Just in between the large black shadow and the smaller one to it's left. Here's a cropped view to help in your search.
I was lying in bed yesterday morning watching the news when that face just jumped right out at me. I keep thinking that some wacko is going to jump all over it and start claiming it's a sign of former intelligent life on the moon just like they did with that face on Mars. Maybe I haven't waited long enough. Did anyone else notice it before I pointed it out to you? Just curious.
This afternoon I'm off to McAlester, OK to give the program for the Kiamichi Quilt Guild and then will drive back home this evening. No big deal, right? Well, it shouldn't be, but I'll be driving at night which I hate, driving in the rain which I hate even more, and worst of all, driving the same route that Pam was on when she had that big wreck in March. Now, I know that the odds of me slamming into the back of some damn drunk indian who decided to park her truck in the middle of the highway are next to zero, but I can't stop thinking about it. It's been bugging me for days now. I'll be happy when I'm back home.
What's your favorite thing about fall?
One favorite thing? I love the cooler weather, the longer nights, the changing leaves, the smell of the air. Fall makes me want to spend lots of time in the kitchen cooking and baking. It also gets my creative juices flowing which means I get lots more work done. What's not to like about fall?

I did get one top quilted and bound. I better get busy if I want to get those last 4 done before the end of the year.
What household chore do you hate the most?
I have to choose? I hate them all. That's why my house is such a pit.
What's your favorite?
See the above answer.
